With so many companies launching their own appstores, why would Acer want to sit back? But, we do not want to get our hopes up so much. Why? Because whenever we expect these companies to launch a proper app store, these companies comes with app stores that are nothing more than glorified mobile versions of pocket gear or handango website that open in IE mobile (see this, and this).

Sales of HTC’s Windows Mobile devices have dropped by nearly a million as compared to last year. HTC shipped 1-1.5 million devices in the Q1 2009 as compared to the 2-2.5 million devices in Q1 2008. It is high time for the Microsoft to speed up the development process of Windows Mobile 7, otherwise Microsoft will have a tough time in keeping the Windows Mobile manufactures faithful to Windows Mobile and at the same time, preventing them to jump to other mobile platforms like Android OS.

Looks like folks at Microsoft are working hard in filling the missing essential features of the Windows Mobile OS. People buy smartphones to stay connected with their friends easily. Many of them like to browse the social networking sites. This application makes me think something: why did no-one ever thought of this? Web Video Downloader is the first Windows Mobile application that lets you download streaming videos from plethora of websites.
However, this application is no more a freeware. The application has undergone many phases and the developer has put in a lot of effort in this application. However, even then it costs a modest $14.95.
ASUS P565, which was slowly being launched in all parts of the world would not be able to make itself to France. It has already been launched in many parts of Asia as-well-as Europe and is enjoying moderate success. The ASUS underwent a partnership with Garmin to release ASUS-GARMIN branded phones this year. Could that be the reason that ASUS P565 was canceled? Or it was canceled that its successor, ASUS P835 has already been announced. But, then again, ASUS P835 is a ASUS-only windows mobile phone and not a ASUS-GARMIN windows mobile phone.
We enjoyed reviewing the device which was touted as the then world’s fastest PDA-phone.
Pda.pl were able to get their hands on the pre-production unit of the ASUS P835. They have done a quick overview of the hardware and the Glide Interface. Although, Asus seems to have change the glide interface quite a bit, but it looks quite sluggish. But, we are not complaining much as it is still a pre-production unit. Remember?
