EEEbox B208 HD, which sports the mighty Atom 330 dual-core processor will soon be released in UK at a price tag of 500 pounds! Ouch, that would hurt anyone’s wallet in such hard times. Anyway, here are its specs:
Atom 330 dual-core processor
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4530 graphics
Wi-Fi support for b, g and draft-n networks
HDMI-out video port
160, 250, or 320GB hard drive
10GB EEE storage
The overall package is pretty neat and you get a lot for 500-pounds.
Acer has launched its first ION powered nettop, which offers advanced graphics capabilities when compared to the other nettops already in the market. If you’ve been living under the shelves and have not heard about the ION platform, then you have missed something really big. Remember that a couple of months back, we brought you news that the first ION based hardware will be a nettop. General manager of Nvidia says
“You will be stunned and amazed watching HD videos, editing photos, surfing the web and playing the latest online games.”
Yes, Acer promises that you can easily play directX 10 games and play 1080p HD movies on this mighty little nettop. You can equip the nettop with HDD or SSD although I do not see the benefit of using SSD in a nettop. RAM can be increased to a total of 4GB RAM.
The Mouse Computers have added a new product to their netbook/nettop range, a Dual Core Atom Nettop named EGPA33DR32XP. It uses the mighty Atom 330 processor with 2GB of RAM, 320GB HDD and uses XP Home as its OS. Mouse Computers have also thrown in a super DVD drive to make the package even more attractive. Price? It is going to cost you less than 400 euros. For the common man who does not do heavy video editing, this nettop can do everything you throw at it.
Most of us (except heavy gamers) use our computers for basic web-surfing; for managing media and office-editing. For such people, these nettops, especially the Dual-Core Atom processor ones are more than enough to do the job. The obvious question that immediately comes into my mind is: where does the market for cheap PC go from here?
At CeBIT 2009, ASUS has showcased the EEE BOX B206. This EEE box features ATI’s Radeon HD 3450 graphics card with 256MB of DDR2 memory. Here are its specifications:
Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU
1GB of SO-DIMM DDR2 memory
160GB HDD+10GB Eee Storage
Gigabit LAN
802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth
Card Reader
4 USB 2.0 ports
HDMI port with DVI-D via adapter
Dimensions: 222x178x26.9mm
Is ASUS going to advertise it as gamer’s EEE? Who knows? Anway, I was expecting to see it with Dual Core Atom processor. Imagine how powerful this nettop would have become then (dual core atom+ATI’s Radeon HD 3450 graphics card)
At CeBIT 2009, ASRock have entered into the nettop segment by launching S330, a nettop using the dual-core Atom 330 processor. For storage, it comes with 160GB HDD. It comes with a total of 6 USB ports which should be enough for your USB peripherals. ASRock have also included their popular Instant Boot to make the overall package even more attractive. No information is given on the RAM although the Asrock has put 2xDIMM slots which lets the user expand the RAM upto 4GB.
The ASUS Eee Top ET1602, the all-in-one touch-screen computer that comprises the full functionality of a regular desktop PC. Eee Top comes with a comprehensive suite of touch-optimized applications spanning productivity, entertainment and communications—enabling users to do virtually anything, easily
The EEE top is equipped with a 15.6″ resistive touchscreen, which would let you to use the select objects on the screen with your fingers. The LCD has a wide viewing angle of 170° (H)/160° (V), which would makes it great to watch movies with your family in your living room. It weighs at 4.3kg, but you won’t be moving along with it. Right?
The specifications are netbook-ish. It is powered by an Intel Atom N270 processor and 1GB RAM. Capacity of HDD is 160GB. Since, this would be mainly used for watching media, it has a “high quality audio chip” and has 4 Hi-Fi speakers.
Since, it does not has a graphic card, it would not be able to play the 1080p videos, but it should have no problem in playing 720p videos. It is priced at $980 (INR 44,000)
It looks like the Eee Box is going to face some tough competition in coming months. Other manufactures won’t sit behind. We knew that a lot of manufactures would emulate this kind of device. I’m not really sure that would be available in the market of US and other international countries. Currently, it is Japan only.
Now You don’t have to wait for hybrid Tablet PC with multi-touch digitizer screen. HP is bringing the mighty Tablet PC TouchSmart TX2, which is going to be a refresh of the HP tx2500 Tablet PC. It is a powerful Tablet PC, which has capacitive digitizer, which uses the same technology that is used in iPhone.
So, HP has finally decided not to make people wait for the multi-touch technology in Windows 7. But, according to me, the most impressive part of TX2 is its price. It is just starting at $1199!. And just look at the specs you get for that little price: Continue reading “HP first multi-touch Tablet PC: HP TouchSmart TX2”
