Nvidia has released six new mobile GeForce 800M series GPUs that are designed for ultrabook laptops and desktop replacement notebooks. This new GPU series will replace the 700M parts in laptops whcih have been shipping from past one year.
Here are the specifications of Nvidia GeForce GT 830M 840M 850M 860M 870M 880M GPU
First is the entry level GeForce GT 830M and GeForce GT 840M GPUs that are based on the Maxwell architecture. Nvidia has not unveiled their specs but has told us that it is up to 35 per cent faster than the previous generation and up to 4x faster than the HD Graphics 4400 found in an Intel Core i5-4200U processor.
We do have detailed specifications of their performance mobile GTX graphic card. Like 840M and 830M the GTX 850M and 860M are also based on latest Maxwell architecture while GTX 870M and 880M use the Kepler as its base.
All the 800m-series mobile GPUs feature GPU Boost but the company has not detailed the exact frequencies. The reason is the clock speed will depend on the particular laptop the GPU is used in and the cooling technology employed by the manufacturer. This type of practice is considered normal in the GPU industry.
