Believe it or not but a hacker has hacked the snapchat’s database and have put the database public on their website. It is available for download in two formats – sql and csv. Security researchers claimed they could check 75,000 records before they were blocked. That doesn’t sound heaps secure.
Also, Snapchat has responded, acknowledging that “theoretically” the phone number data exploit is possible, but claims it has implemented safeguards over the past year and “recently added additional counter-measures and continue to make improvements to combat spam and abuse.”
This would not only make snapchat users rethink about its security, but behavior of all users when they download a new app from some startup that asks for phone number and other information during sign up.
Anyway, hackers warned snapchat, of course snapchat does nothing. Worthless company.
