Asus Transformer Book T101 Cherry trail model was released at the Mepi 2016 tech event and it was revealed that this 2016 T101 will be made available in the month of August 2016. The Asus Transformer Book T101 still makes use of the hinged keyboard dock allowing user to use it as hybrid 2 in 1 tablet.
One major change is that the screen part is no longer fixed by mechanical hooks but by a powerful magnet system that retains the keyboard. Also now it is possible to place the screen in opposite direction, that is not facing the keyboard which makes it perfect for movie watching. The screen size has not undergone any change and it is still 10.1 inches.
Port selection includes full USB 3.0 port, 3.5 mm audio jack, microUSB, micro HDMI and a micro SDXC card reader. We would have welcomed a full size USB port instead of micro USB but given the fact the microUSB port to full size USB connectors are so easily available, we are not complaining. The chiclet keyboard has a very classic design but it lacks backlit. The touchpad is same as 2015 T101 model.
The T101 2016 model spec sheet also lists Intel Atom X5-Z8350 cherry trail processor that has quad cores and four threads backed by 2MB cache and 1.44GHz clock speed. The processor is also home to integrated Intel HD graphics chipset with 12 EU clocked at 200-500MHz. The specifications also include 2GB of DDR3 memory, 64GB / 128GB of eMMC storage, 802.11ac wireless LAN.
The base model packing 64GB of storage will cost 299 euros.
